In 2005 I started an on going photography / self-portrait series.
This is one of my most recent contact pages from the project.
I take a photo looking down at my feet, at the same angle, every time I find I am in a new place.
Whether that be physical or mental.
I never really liked (or was good at) painting self portraits, but I was still drawn to the idea of a self portrait. The first picture I took in this series was the last day of high school in 2005 in Cary, IL. I had my feet at the end of a fallen tree on a hike in one of my favorite parks with one of my favorite people. I find the image of my feet { the physical thing that got me to the location } and the scene helped capture the moment better then my facial expressions. The picture represented so much for me, I kept taking them and still take them to this day. I have a shot in front of the Eiffel tower, the Sears tower, the hoover damn and I plan on keeping the series going until my feet are old and wrinkled.
Not sure if everyone will think it is gross, interesting or weird. Hope you enjoy.
I would like to thank the Milwaukee Athletic Club and the Mona V Wellness studio for being so accommodating and for having me for October Gallery Night in Milwaukee. The evening was a great success and I had a great time.
My work will be hanging in the Wellness studio for the next few months. If you want to take a yoga class, I suggest the Mona V Wellness studio cause then you get to sit and relax while starring at my funky paintings!
Found this guy’s portfolio on Behance and pretty much made me loose an hour of the day. At first I thought he was just a explosive character designer, but with more poking around I found he is a graphic designer in Germany who dabbles is much more. I’m pretty sure he is one of the coolest animators I have seen in a long time. It is almost as if he put a contemporary spin on classic and Renaissance like portraits, where it was all about the distinguished pose, extravagant patterns, drink in hand and jewelry. I love it and hope to own some of his work one day.

This mini film started as a documentation photo series intended to be able to match every note of a song I was trying to use as inspiration. I was going to take a photo of each note in the song “You enjoy myself” by Phish.
I wanted to be able to animate the painting being created to the song, really moving along with the music and taking the inspiration right from the song notes.
Needless to say I was only like 90 seconds into the song and it took me four hours to get just these ninety slides and it was a 12 minute song.
I gave up on the project and started painting faster, cause it was killing. So I made this mini film instead with some beats from the artist Blockhead.
